Wills and Estate Planning

The best time to make your will is today.

We offer personalized advice on the creation of an estate plan that ensures your documents give full effect to your wishes.

Our comprehensive estate planning includes the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, and personal directives. Contact us about wills and estates or view our all-inclusive pricing.

Estate Administration and Probate

Have you been named as an executor in a will?

Has a loved one passed away without leaving a will?

We’re here to help.

When a person passes away, their estate must be administered by the person appointed as the executor or personal representative.

The estate administration process involves identifying estate assets, determining whether a grant of probate or grant of administration from the court will be required, paying off the estate debts, and distributing the estate to beneficiaries. We help guide you through this process from start to finish.

Lawyer’s estate administration fees are generally payable out of the deceased’s assets.

To find out how much you can save* on lawyer’s fees with Pure Legal, type the estimated value** of the estate into our free calculator below.

*Our fees for core legal services vs. The Law Society of Alberta’s suggested fee guidelines for probate lawyers for core legal services.

**For estates with a value of $150,000 or less, we charge a fee based on the complexity of the estate. To get a quote, please contact us.

Contentious Estate Matters

Even when a will, personal directive, and power of attorney have been drafted, disputes can arise.

At Pure Legal we are knowledgeable about the full scope of issues that may arise when an estate is contested. We have experience in representing clients in contentious matters including applications to remove an executor or attorney, challenges to a will, and unfair distributions of an estate. We are committed to giving you straightforward guidance to resolve conflicts and, if required, navigate through the court process, without incurring significant costs.

We welcome you to contact us to speak to a lawyer for free regarding your estate litigation matter.

Adult GUARDIANSHIP & TRUSTEESHIP

Applying to the court for an order of guardianship and trusteeship.

In situations where an adult does not have a power of attorney or personal directive and does not have mental capacity due to age, injury, or illness, it may be necessary to apply to the court for an order of guardianship and trusteeship.

At Pure Legal we offer flat fee, predictable pricing for adult guardianship and/or trusteeship applications. Click to view our price list or contact us to book a free call with a lawyer.
